The Blossom Project is an 8-story residential mixed-used building consisting of 184 workforce residential units with amenity space, rooftop terrace, and retail/commercial space at the street level. Below grade parking and loading are both accessed from the alley off S Main St. .

The project will contribute to the district as a stable residential neighborhood with a mixture of housing types to support the multi-generational community that lives and works in the neighborhood.

Once built, this project will increase the neighborhood’s supply of workforce housing units, which encourages cultural diversification and increases density to sustain the neighborhood’s small businesses. The commercial spaces on the ground level along 5th Ave S and S Main St. aim to encourage street-level activation by attracting pedestrian-oriented shops with colorful and interesting displays and small businesses with meaningful “roots” in the district.

The proposed project aims to improve the visual and urban design relationships between existing and new buildings while bringing new open spaces and improvements to the district. The proposed height respects the scale of surrounding buildings to better fit the context of the neighborhood and right-of-way improvements along S Main St. will enrich the pedestrian experience. The modern building design of the project seeks to respect the heritage and history of “Nihonmachi” and Japanese culture and is inspired by both the past and what the future can bring to this neighborhood.
